Tinctures are made by systematically immersing an herb in a combination of water and alcohol. This liquid form is readily absorbed by the body and tends to have a relatively long shelf life. Combining two or more tinctures is simple, as is adjusting the dose. Alcohol-free extracts (glycerites) are also possible in some cases by substituting glycerin for alcohol.

Capsules & Softgels

Capsules are very portable and while their doses are fixed, they are a good option for people who do not like the taste of a tincture. They can be made with a vegetarian shell and are most appropriate for non-alcohol lifestyles.

Powders & Oils

Herbs can also be taken as powders or used topically as infused oils. There is no “best” dosage form, but their wide variety of forms appeal to a large target market. At the end of the day, personal preference is really what matters.
