Purpose

I’m on a mission to help people experience liquid herbal extracts. I love that they are a simple, effective and authentic representation of herbs.

Specialty

I’m a traditional Western herbalist who has been teaching, formulating and making medicine since 2008. I’m also an avid gardener! Cultivating plants brings me joy and helps me understand how growing and harvesting conditions impact an herb’s chemistry, which informs how it’s best extracted.

Training

Bachelor of Science in Herbal Sciences from Bastyr University and a Bachelor of Science in Textile Management from Clemson University.

Teaching

I am passionate about education and have taught at herb schools, conferences and community events across the West Coast. At Herb Pharm, I oversee the respected Herbaculture Internship program and new employee herbal education program.

Motivation

Herbs have had a profoundly positive impact on my life, and I want to share that with others! Humans have been in relationship with plants for as long as we’ve been on the Earth. Something as simple as taking an extract can help enrich that connection. Plants are so generous – providing food, shelter, clothing, medicine and shade. Understanding this inspires me to be a better person. When we have a relationship with something, we don’t just take everything we can. My hope is that as interest in herbalism grows, we reawaken that sense of connection and that this leads to a more reciprocal and sustainable relationship with the natural world.

First Herb Memory

Picking Spearmint from a patch under a leaky backyard faucet with my mom. She added it to our iced tea.
