Herbal Facial Steam
Enjoy a spa experience in the comfort of home. This herbal facial steam comes together with the dried or fresh aromatic herbs of your choice, but is extra luxurious with options like Rose, Calendula, and Yarrow.
Supplies
2 tablespoons dried or fresh aromatic herbs like Rose, Calendula, or Yarrow
Large heat-proof bowl
2 cups water
Bath towel or washable blanket
Instructions
- Wash your face with your normal cleanser.
- Heat water to almost boiling (be sure not to use boiling water to avoid burning your skin).
- Choose any combination of your favorite herbs, add them to the bowl, and cover with hot water.
- Drape the towel over your head, making sure to close your eyes, and lean over the bowl at least 12 inches away from it. This creates a “tent” over the bowl to trap in the steam (see tip below!).
- Breathe deeply and relax!
Important Tips:
- Before putting your face over the steam, try holding your hand 12 inches above the water for several seconds. If you can do so comfortably, then you can start your facial steam.
- Be certain to keep your face at least 12 inches above the water to avoid burns. If you feel the steam is just a little too hot for your liking, you can try loosening the “tent” to allow steam to dissipate. If you experience any discomfort, stop your facial steam.
