Lavender Infused Oil
Indulge your senses with the lovely floral scent of Lavender. This DIY Lavender infused oil is easy to make
with just a small bit of dried Lavender and luxurious body oil. It’s perfect for gifts, or you can dab it on
as a light perfume, or massage it into the skin after a bath or shower for a total spa experience.
Equipment
Medium to large pot or Dutch oven
Medium to large heat-proof bowl (forgo if using a Dutch oven)
Water
Fine sieve or muslin cloth
Clean lidded bottle or jar
Supplies
1 tablespoon dried Lavender flower (We recommend Pacific
Botanicals)
1 cup oil, such as Jojoba oil, Apricot kernel oil, or Coconut oil
Instructions
- Find a slightly larger heat-proof bowl with a lip that allows the bowl to rest securely inside the pot without the bottom touching the base of the pot.
- Add a small amount of water in the pot, low enough that it doesn’t reach the bottom of the bowl that
will sit on top of the pot.
- Heat the water to boiling and then reduce to a simmer.
- Place the bowl on the pot, add your oil of choice and Lavender, and stir.
- Set a timer for 30 minutes.
- Stir and check the water level inside the pot periodically, adding more water as needed so it doesn’t
evaporate.
- When the timer is done, strain the herb from the oil into a clean (ideally sterilized!) bottle or jar.
- Discard the used herb.
- Let the strained oil cool to room temperature.
- Use immediately on the skin or close with a lid for storing. Enjoy!
Tip:
- After a warm bath or shower, apply the infused oil to your skin.
