Our Story
We know that if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right. That's why we dedicated 25 years to learning everything we can about mushrooms before welcoming Mushroom Wellness to the Herb Pharm family. Backed by renowned herbalist and mycologist Dr. Christopher Hobbs, Ph. D., Mushroom Wellness is charting new territory in the world of functional fungi.
Here Dr. Hobbs is in his element, displaying a Reishi (Ganoderma sp.) fruiting body among some smaller Reishi babies.
Meet Dr. Christopher Hobbs, Ph. D.
We’re so honored to be partnered with Dr. Christopher Hobbs, Ph. D. Not only is he an herbalist, mycologist, and published author, he’s a deeply knowledgeable teacher whose love of mushrooms is inspiring!
Most people of the world, when you really look at the whole world, use mushrooms for food, but also realize there’s a major health benefit they can get at the same time.

Our Guarantee
As a company committed to doing right, patience, care, transparency, and respect for the environment drive us at Mushroom Wellness. We have high standards for our products, which are all Certified Organic, vegan, packed in amber glass bottles, and proudly grown and manufactured in the U.S.A.
How We’re Different
At Mushroom Wellness, we do not purchase our mushrooms and mycelial biomass from the global open market. We grow, harvest, and process them ourselves! In fact, Mushroom Wellness is one of the first vertically integrated producers of U.S.-grown mycelial biomass and fruiting body products that labels beta-glucan content on everything we make.
Testing
Knowing what’s in your supplements is just as important as knowing what’s not. Our products are made according to stringent quality control processes at every step and are rigorously tested for pesticides, heavy metals, and microbial contamination.

Fruiting Body
The above-ground “fruit” or visible portion that is commonly referred to as simply “mushroom”.
Mycelium
Network of fungal threads that is the living organism and produces the fruiting body.
Mycelium vs. Fruiting Body
There is a big debate in the mushroom community about which part of the mushroom is more beneficial – the fruiting body or the mycelium. At Mushroom Wellness, our products include both, but there’s a lot of interesting science behind that choice.

Our Process
Foraging & Strain Selection
Cultures hand-selected from many sources, including wild harvest, and expertly cultivated for over 25 years at our indoor facilities.
Strains are selected for vigorous growth & richness in beta-glucans. Mushrooms are cultivated from specimens using sterile culture techniques.

Patiently Grown
All mushroom material (fruiting body, mycelial biomass, and sclerotium) is patiently grown.
Mycelia is inoculated on brown rice as a growth medium.1 The mycelia optimally consumes the growth medium (and until fruiting bodies or sclerotia are established for some species). This process can take up to 14 weeks or more for a single batch.

Steam-Processed & Harvested
We steam-process all batches prior to a final drying so that our products are ready to use right out of the bottle.
Harvest times vary according to each species’ growing needs and to optimize beta-glucan levels. After harvesting, an initial dehydration, and steam-processing, all mushroom material is dried, milled into a powder, and packaged.
