We’ve been a Certified B Corp since 2018, and we were named B Corp’s “Best for the World” in 2019 and 2021. This independent assessment is a distinction that measures our impact and really matters to us! It’s a great way to uphold our purpose: taking care of plants, so they take care of people.
A Certified B Corporation (B Corp) is a business that meets the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. This certification comes from a nonprofit organization called B Lab, whose mission is to make business a force for good.
To become a Certified B Corp, a business must meet B Lab’s rigorous standards for environmental, social, and community impact. To become a Certified B Corp, companies must fill out a comprehensive assessment that looks at their overall mission, ethics, transparency, financial security for their employees, career development, health, safety, diversity, charitable giving, environmental management practices, and so much more.
Once the assessment is complete, it’s evaluated and verified by B Labs. And what makes B Corp Certification unique is that it’s constantly evolving. Your B Corp certification status isn’t a one-and-done process – the bar is always being raised and companies are consistently challenged to improve, not just keep up with the status quo.
In a consumer goods world that’s overrun with greenwashing, B Corp certification brings a refreshing level of transparency. Anyone can give their products an earthy look and feel – but that doesn’t mean it’s better for our bodies or the environment. When you see the Certified B Corp logo, you know for sure that the company is doing what’s right for consumers, employees, and the planet.
